Acne scars are caused by inflammatory acne lesions. There are several factors that contribute to the risk of developing
scars, first, it may be genetic; if you have family members who have acne scar, you are at higher risk of developing scars too and secondly, have a different skin types also affect’s types of scarring. A person with severe acne, may have the tendency for
scarring that is long term.

Acne will lead to three major types of scars:

Ice pick: deep but small pits

Boxcar: sharp angles and edges; can be shallow or deep

Rolling: tend to be wide and shallow (a wavy look) caused by damage under the surface

Hypertrophic scars are raised scars which is caused by the skin doesn’t realise that the wound has healed and overproduces collagen.
Treatment can diminish acne scars that cause depression in the skin and safely reduce raised acne scars.
