Dr. Victor

Dr. Victor Cheong Mun Khan

Dr Victor graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1987 and completed his advanced surgical training in plastic surgery in the year 1997 after working at many notable plastic surgical units in the UK. He went on to work in Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong and then The General Hospital in Kuala Lumpur before setting up private practice.

This practice has now since grown into one clinic in Hong Kong, two clinics in Kuala Lumpur and an outpost clinic in Kuching.

Dr Victor has a myriad of interests outside work, ranging from drawing, freestyle yoga, diving and kick boxing. His motto of “keep your head down and perfect your craft” extends to all aspects of his life and not just plastic surgery.

Dr Rica graduated 1998 from Nottingham University, United Kingdom and started her medical career in Hukm. As a medical student she co-authored a scientific paper in the genetics of chick brain development earning her an honours degree in Biomedical Science.

In HUKM, she completed Masters in General Surgery between the years of 2000 – 2004 and quickly embarked on her tertiary training in the field of plastic surgery whilst also obtaining surgical membership with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. She successfully completed her 3 years training which covers a wide field of specialized practice including reconstructive microvascular surgery, burns and hand surgery. Following this she pursued a deeper experience in her field spending more time in fellowships in Australia, Taiwan and also Singapore. She returned to Malaysia to head the Plastic and Hand Unit at Selayang Hospital.

She joined Esadsa House in year 2017 as a consultant cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon. In addition to her expanding her practice, she has a special interest in breast reconstruction surgery for breast cancer and female vaginal reconstruction. She is the primary physician who performs Thermiva and Thermitight in Esadsa Clinic.

She is a mother of 3 children and although challenging, has always kept her 3 children in tow throughout her work and training experience locally and overseas. As with all working mothers, her main gripe is the constant struggle to achieve the ideal work life balance.

Dr. Shamala Durairajanayagam

Dr. Shamala graduated as a medical doctor from University Putra Malaysia (UPM). During her undergraduate years, she achieved distinction awards in multiple subjects. With an avid interest in the surgical field, Dr Shamala pursued her plastic surgery training in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2007. She underwent training in both Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) and Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), which are the two centres that manage complex reconstructive surgeries in Malaysia.

Upon graduating as a plastic surgeon, Dr. Shamala had the honour of becoming the first female Indian plastic surgeon in Malaysia. She then served as a specialist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur where she performed reconstructive, burns, cleft and cosmetic surgeries. She obtained post-specialisation training in cosmetic surgery and breast reconstructive surgery from senior consultant plastic surgeon, Dr. Victor Cheong.

Dr Shamala is a committee member of the Malaysian Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (MSPRS) and is registered with the National Specialist Register (NSR). She also holds the Letter of Credentialing and Privileging (LCP) for Aesthetic Medical Practice issued by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

Apart from her clinical work, Dr. Shamala was an honorary lecturer for the Master of Surgery (Plastic Surgery) programme at USM for 5 years and was a member of the HKL Hospital Research Review Committee (HRRC) for 4 years. She is also an ad hoc reviewer of the Malaysian Medical Journal (MMJ) and the Journal of Clinical and Health Sciences (JCHS).

She is fiercely calculative in business finance and has the obsessive care for details. You can count on her as she is highly reliable and she sees through all tasks to conclusion. A BIG Fan of Jazz music and she will seize any opportunity to attend concerts by Jazz performers.

Armed with the talent of being multi-lingual, she is able to communicate well with the people surrounding her.

A fanciful character that is a Diploma holder in Medical Assistant from College of Medical Assistant, Ulu Kinta, Perak. He is one of the most senior members of the team and have been with Esadsa House since 2002. He has since retired as a fisherman and shifted his focus as a budding convoy motorcyclist. He earns himself a lifetime of expert assistance in surgery and is an asset to our surgeons.
